Tenga Flip Zero EV Review:

My Experience Using The Flip Zero EZ

Written by: Don Watson | Updated: May 28th, 2023

There's an extreme wealth of male masturbators available on today's market. There seems to be untold thousands of different upgrades over the right hand that it can be difficult to choose which once to settle on. And even then, some sex toys have been around for long enough for their designers to get enough customer feedback to start making their toys even better.

The Tenga Flip Zero EV is just one such male masturbator. It's an upgrade on the original Tenga Flip Hole that I covered quite some time ago when this blog was still in its infancy.

The whole Flip part of the name comes from the fact that the toy is able to flip open across the middle not unlike a flip phone, which makes cleaning much easier and there's way less worry that you weren't as diligent as you should have been after a particularly messy session.

The rest of the name is clever branding made to make the toy seem high-end and high tech, and I'd say that Tenga isn't far off from the truth in that regard.

Vibrating male masturbators are becoming more and more popular now that men have discovered just how far a little extra vibration can take you. I was very keen to try them out myself, which is why I went ahead and bought myself the Flip Zero EV.

I bought my Tenge Flip Zero EV from SheVibe.com, since they offered the lowest price.

Design & Specs

Once I got my Flip Zero, it was time to dissect exactly what I was given.

There was the toy itself, a handy instruction manual, some free lube, a USB charging table, and even a charging dock for the toy.

The dock is a nice touch because you can use it while the toy is open to dry out and is a big upgrade from just laying whatever rechargeable on the computer desk and waiting for the light to go green.

The toy itself is where I chose to focus the most on, because, duh, this is a sex toy review site.

Now in total I would say the toy is about 2.7 inches thick, 3 inches wide, and seven inches tall. The total insertable length is just a pinch less than the total length, I would have to guess no less than 6.7 inches in total.

I'll work from the outside in to fully explain what this toy has on offer.

The exterior is solid ABS plastic mainly, but there is a section on both side made of soft, pliable material that you can push down on to apply more pressure to certain parts of the penis while it is in use. While of course there is the direct pressure on the penis created by pushing down on the pads, some air is forced out of a one-way valve at the top of the toy resulting in more suction being felt overall, a new feature from Tenga that is a welcome addition.

Now lets open this sucker up. It flips right open exposing all of its sultry insides. The inner sleeve is made from thermoplastic elastomer that's kind of like Fleshlight's formulation, but I consider it a bit more artificial feeling and there's this stickiness initially that goes away with time and use. It's how this sleeve interacts with what I'm about to talk about next that is the real strength of the Flip Zero.

On both sides of the toy there is a vibrating motor that they refer to as a pleasure core. One side has the vibrator going along the middle of the toy to deliver vibrations throughout that entire length of the penis (strongest at the middle, obviously), and the other side has its vibrator placed towards the tip and it's more of a strong, rumbly kind of motor that delivers vibrations that will cascade down the length of the toy but it's mostly meant to pleasure the tip.

Tenga thought things through with the Flip Zero EV, if you're going to make the fact that your toy vibrates one of it's main draws, it's sleeve should compliment that fact. All of the protrusions on the inner sleeve are fairly bulky and free hanging, which on a normal toy wouldn't mean much, and might even detract from the toy overall. But with the Zero EV, when the motors are on these parts of the sleeve jiggle in a way that provides some really mind blowing stimulation.

Are the motors a simple on/off procedure? Not at all. The 5 different modes offered are: low, high, pulse, alternating, and random. Which mode you're currently on can be changed with the simple push of a button.

The overall battery life of the toy is a mere 40 minutes compared to it's charge time of 90 minutes, so it isn't the most efficient rechargeable I've ever laid my hands on, but 40 minutes is definitely more than enough for a single session, so while non ideal I haven't personally ran into too much trouble with the short battery life.

Don't let the motors fool you into thinking you'll have to delicately wash it out, either. It's fully waterproof, so soap and water work just fine. Make sure to only use cold water and a very delicate soap if you want to have this toy go the distance and last as long as possible.

What's It Like To Use?

Tenga has a tall order to fill here, as there others in the vibrating masturbator sphere like the Fleshlight Vibro trying to win over hearts and minds. I went into this thinking it would just be an upgraded Tenga Flip Hole, but here's what I managed to find out:

Their new sleeve design is absolutely fantastic and Tenga now uses a more premium blend of their TPE that was previously only available in Japan. The details and inner feel of the Flip Zero EV are a big upgrade on just about any other Tenga toy I've used. What this really made me excited about is that this stronger material lasts a lot longer and can take a bit more of a beating than the regular Flip Hole blend of TPE.

The Flip Hole is only sort of a non-disposable male masturbator, there's something like 50-100 uses total before it has to get hucked in the trash. The one year warranty of the Flip Zero also leads me to believe that Tenga trusts most people to get at least a year of use out of it before they encounter any issues.

The motors are really smartly placed, instead of just going for a symmetrical design like other vibrating masturbators have the fact that each side has it's own specialize really shows off when you're using it, and there's a fair bit of overlap between the tip vibrating core and the middle vibrating core on the other side. It's a whole new ball game if you decide to use the random or alternating feature. I say this because you won't really know which core to expect to vibrate next and there's this wonderful teasing sensation that comes from anticipating your next vibration.

I'm more than satisfied by the overall power output of the two motors and the different settings have me hooked. The way the vibrations play with the dics grooves within the toy leaves me weak at the knees and at the sink cleaning it out after an unexpectedly quick release just about every time I use it.

The only thing I dislike is the low battery life. 40 minutes is really on the low end of the scale, but I have a lot, and I mean a lot of different toys. For most men, it might not be a big issue, but I personally like it when the use time is more on par with the charge time, in this case 90 minutes.

Where To Get One?

In my opinion, the best place to buy the Tenga Flip Zero EV, is at SheVibe.com.

They offered the lowest price available that I was able to find. Not to mention their a very reliable retailer that we've bought quite a few sex toys from in the past.

I bought mine from them for around $100 which was about $20 cheaper than other retailers.

At the time you're reading this, the price might have come down.

In Conclusion

Being a newcomer to the fray of vibration enabled male sex toys, the Flip Zero is able to hold its own against competitors from Fleshlight and the Cobra Libre II. The dual motor design brings together the best aspects from different competitors and they didn't skimp on their interior design either. The fact that they've upgraded the durability of the toy is what makes this one of the first Tenga toys that has a long life span going for it, I can't imagine it'll wear out any sooner than the average Fleshlight in my collection.

If you want to make sure your Flip Zero EV lasts as long as possible, make sure to only use water based lube and when washing make sure not to use any harsh soaps, as not following any of these rules will compromise the strength of the toy over time.

At the end of the day, I don't regret picking up the Flip Zero EV one bit.
