Porn Secrets:
How Fake Cumshots Are Made

Written by: Angela Watson | Updated: June 25th, 2023

There's a concept in the film industry known as suspension of disbelief. It's a technical term for what happens in your brain when you accept the fact that while you know hobbits and dragons don't really exist, you can get into the plot and character's feelings despite the fantasy setting.

That's a pretty extreme example, but it also works on smaller scale things like say, your favorite action hero dodging a hail of bullets or, say, the plumber getting down & dirty with the lonely housewife after he fixes the sink. Porn might have some of the most egregious examples of suspension of disbelief of them all, if you really think about it.

Hour and a half long sex sessions, the idea that all of these sex scenes were shot one after another instead of spliced together in post-production, and of course, the fabled money shot. Bare minimum, porn studios have the male reach climax very early on and shoot the money shot first and then work from there.

But what about those absolutely monstrous money shots that look like they would leave the average man completely dehydrated and his sac more prune-like than prunes themselves. It's showbiz baby, there's always some secrets behind the curtain just waiting to be discovered.

So what does the adult film industry do when they need industrial amounts of spunk?

The Old School Method: Methylcellulose

Since a lot of photo shoots require the material to be on the body for long periods of time, it has to be safe for the female body. That means all use of sugars is out of the question and it has to be pH neutral so it doesn't contribute to yeast infections.

Porn directors buy buckets full of methylcellulose, specifically a formulation called F50, and then mix it with water to get the consistency they're looking for. It's used also in culinary applications and dyed various colors when other kinds of films need a satisfactory goo like substance, but its been a mainstay in the porn industry for decades now.

When you're shooting a scene that needs to make the saying "to cum buckets" a reality, methycellulose is where they used to go almost exclusively. It isn't hard to source, but the fact that it requires mixing on site means that the consistency won't be the exact same every time, nobody wants to have to call in their local fake cum expert just to have some continuity between scenes.

Pina Colada Mix/Drink Mix

Sugary options aren't good for use in the vagina, but for any cumshots that require the performer to hold the product in their mouth for extended periods of time,  pina colada mix is a commonly used option.

Doesn't taste horrible so it can be held in the mouth and it does an alright enough job in still pictures, it's a simple solution. It isn't used very often anymore however, since there's really no purpose in having fake cum around if you can't do absolutely any kind of scene with it. The sugars in the mix contribute to yeast infections if they are left on the vagina, so it just isn't widely used anymore.

There are countless other fake cum recipes if you want to learn how to make fake cum that I could go over. However none of them really stand-up against products that have been specially designed to mimic the real thing, like the product I'm going to cover next.

Magic Money Shot: How They Do It In Porn

Naturally things become better and more modernized over time, since pornography hasn't gone anywhere since the 70s and if anything has only exploded in popularity, it has now become a worthwhile business venture to actually be in the business of fake jizz.

If you're adventurous with your search history, it only takes five minutes to figure out that there is definitely more than just a few niche fetishes out there that end up having to employ fake cum.

So to step up to this growing need for fake semen that can be used nearly exactly like the real thing, a company was born that goes by the name of Magic Money Shot. Their flagship product, Kum, was specifically formulated to be the exact same consistency and color of the real thing and even edible & flavorful to boot, making it the new "it" product of the adult industry. They even made a strawberry flavor, which in my opinion is pretty funny.

There's a few reasons why the porn industry has latched on to Magic Money Shot so intensely. Firstly, from the director's point of view their product is practically 100% identical to the same thing and comes at an affordable price point. Also, it is water based and doesn't stain or ruin any equipment it might accidentally come into contact with. Next, the actors are happy because it's a plant based product that does't taste appalling and is completely safe to use for the body.

If you're going to make fake cum your sole purpose for your business, you might as well go all out on top of everything. They even make their own brand of squirting dildos and spray bottle applicators to make any scene a reality.

Modern life can be funny sometimes, right?

How Magic Money Shot Was Made

After they've figured out what their stand in for real cum is going to be, the next step is to actually apply it in a way that makes it look realistic and appealing. I personally like to imagine a guy in a french beret flicking a paintbrush he occasionally dips in jizz, but that's just my humble sensibilities poking through.

Some companies like Magic Money Shot that we mentioned earlier also have an applicator that's kind of like a spray bottle with a hose attached, and that's a great way to spread around the cumshot in a way that gravity will be able to have it's way with the selected lube before it finally hits its mark.

If the male actor has already shot his load earlier in shooting but they need to get another, it's not entirely out of the question to get really creative. One way is that a tube is rigged up in a way that the camera angle won't pick it up and an assistant squeezes an IV bag full of fake cum. One other method is by using a fake penis that the false jizz is shot through. Porn companies are hoping you're focusing on the girl and not the penis, there's way more swap outs than you'd think once you actually start looking.

Final Thoughts

Hopefully this article doesn't shatter your ability to enjoy some of your favorite scenes, but surely you must have realized somewhere along the way that these sticky, messy scenes aren't always grounded in reality.

These truths should come as a "The More You Know" as opposed to shattering your preconceptions around the adult industry. Surely you didn't think the massive cumshots were grounded in reality, right? Anyways, I think the reasonable part of the brain is shut off during masturbation anyways, we'll all be alright.

You'd be surprised how often realistic looking cum squirting dildos and fake cum are used in the adult industry. While you'd think that going natural is the way to go, the human body is largely unpredictable and you always need to have something on standby when every second on set costs hundreds of dollars when you factor in the cost of equipment and wages. Remember, these actors might not be doing their first shoot of the day, and professional porn actors can't really cum on command

So, some inventive thinking is needed from time to time.

I appreciate you putting together this article. I always wondered how they faked it in porn.
