6 Of The Most Used Bondage Positions

Level Up Your Role Playing Game!

For those people who like role playing and having a sub dom relationship during sex, bondage is one of the perfect tools for them. We’ve tried it out ourselves a couple times and it creates quite the interesting dynamic.

If you are new to the whole world of BDSM, bondage is where one person is restrained and forced into sexual slavery.

If you and your partner enjoy that type of situation, it is a great way to get you both aroused and achieve intense orgasms.

Before I jump into some of the most used bondage positions out there however, I want to spend some time talking about how to get your partner to try bondage with you, because not everyone is open to bondage and they might be nervous to try it out for the first time.

If bondage is something you really want to add into your relationship, you are going to have to properly introduce it to your partner in order to keep them happy.

I firmly believe that sex should be enjoyable for both people and that at no point should a person be uncomfortable.  While it might be nice that they are trying something new for you, if they are uneasy about the situation, it can take away from the moment. Here are some of the ways that you can ease your partner into bondage.

How To Ease Your Partner Into Bondage

Do Your Research

The first thing you are going to have to do is do your research regarding bondage positions. There is no doubt that your partner is going to have a ton of questions about what is going to happen. If you are unable to answer them properly, you are going to create some trust issues.

You should be able to know exactly what bondage positions you want to try and what it entails from both you and your partner. If they are going to be stepping out of their comfort zone and trying something different, you have to meet them halfway with research. When me and Don try any new bondage positions, we make sure we both know what we are doing and what to expect beforehand.

Be Understanding

Everyone has different kinks, and while you might be really into BDSM, your partner might not be. Don’t be offended or angry if they don’t want to try things out, but instead be empathetic and understanding towards it.

It’s going to take time to get them to a comfortable level, and until then, the best thing you can do is understand the situation that they are in. The more understanding and empathetic you are, the better the sex will be in your relationship.

Set Boundaries

One of the biggest issues I notice when people try out roleplay and BDSM is that they don’t set clear boundaries with each other. While having a safeword is important, if someone oversteps their bounds, it can completely kill the moment and also result in a complete breach of trust.

As I’ve said before, sex is only fun if everyone is enjoying it. If you are going to be trying out some new bondage positions, figure out what is overstepping the boundaries with your partner. They will definitely appreciate you taking the time to do this.

Start Simple

I’ve seen so many people completely lose their partner with BDSM because they have tried to start with some of the most extreme bondage positions out there.

You might find the beginner things boring, but your partner needs that to be introduced into the BDSM world. You most likely started off simple, so ensure that your partner has time to learn and understand what is happening.

Communicate

After you have finished in the bedroom, take the time to talk things over with your partner and understand how things went. This is where honesty is key. Did your partner enjoy the bondage positions that you tried?

Were there any times when they were uncomfortable? Communicating once everything is all said and done can ease emotions and also help guide future BDSM sessions.

Now that I’ve discussed some of the ways to ease your partner into bondage, it’s time to talk about some of the bondage positions that you can try out. I’ll try to cover a mix of beginner and advanced bondage positions so there’s something for everyone on this list.

Top 6 Most Used Bondage Positions

#1. The Spread Eagle

Even if you are new to bondage, there is a good change that you have heard of this rope bondage position. It works best if you have a bed, however the spread eagle can be done anywhere as long as you have access to four sturdy objects that you can tie the person to.

This is a simple bondage position to execute and is a great start for beginners who want to try ropes but don’t want to do anything too intense.

Simply grab four ropes and tie each of their legs and arms to the posts on the bed (or objects around them). Once this is done, they should be completely “spread eagle” and you will be able to do whatever you want to them.

The Eagle Spread

When we do this position, we like to do a little bit of teasing to really torture the person who is tied down. It’s a great bondage position because it makes the person feel vulnerable and powerless, but the position itself isn’t too extreme or uncomfortable. I recommend this bondage position for beginners who are new and want to keep things simple.

#2. Box Tie and Frog Tie

BoxTie

The box tie is a starter position for many different bondage positions because it allows you to restrict the other person’s movements without causing any safety issues or discomfort.

If you plan on having a long session of bondage play, this is going to be a great position as it will ensure your partner does not have any nerve issues or problems with blood flow.

To do a basic box tie, you are going to cross their arms behind their back and then tie it together. How you accomplish the knot from there is up to you, but what you should be striving for is to completely restrict their movement. This is one of the more comfortable ways to be tied up while still preventing your partner from being able to wiggle out of their knots.

The frog tie refers to a similar style of bondage position but it is used on the legs. Your partner will sit down on their legs and have the upper half of their legs tied to the lower half of their legs.

This is a great bondage position for sex as you now have access to both the front and back of your partner. Depending on how comfortable you both are, you can have both anal and vaginal play in this position.

The position is not restrictive either so reaching these spots will not be difficult. If you plan on getting into more intense bondage positions, you are going to want to learn these two. There is some mobility allowed in the frog tie, but it is still not enough to allow them to escape from what you have planned.

#3. Classic Damsel

This is a great bondage position that can be used to recreate the damsel in distress that is so often seen in movies. For this position you are going to need some rope so one of you can be tied up.

The first thing you are going to want to do with this bondage position is tie their elbows together behind their back. This is going to restrict their arms so they can’t move them anywhere.

Once that is done, you are then going to take another set of rope and tie their wrists together. With the last two sets of rope you have, you are going to want to tie their knees together and their ankles together.

This bondage position is going to completely restrict their movement and leave them in an uncomfortable position where they are powerless to what you are going to be doing to them.

If you have a female doing this, when her arms and elbows are behind her back, she is going to be thrusting her breasts forward towards you. You can really stimulate the nipple area and start sucking on them as well.

Classic Damsel

This is another great position for beginners as it actually keeps the person's legs closed and tight together. If your partner is uncomfortable with rope bondage positions that will spread them completely open, this is a great way to still tie them up while allowing them to still be modest. Personally, this is one of my favorite positions and it works as a great tease and bit of foreplay.

#4. Hog Tie

HogTie

The hog tie is another one of those bondage positions that almost everyone has heard of. While this bondage position is fairly easy to pull off, I wouldn’t jump right into this with someone who is new to bondage.

To get your partner into this position, you are first going to want to tie them in the same way you would with a classic damsel. Once you have gotten them tied like this, you are going to lay them on their stomach and then tie the rope on their wrists to the rope on their nakles.

This is going to lift their feet in the air, showing off the soles of their feet. If you are someone who has a foot fetish, you are going to love this bondage position as you are going to get quite the display out of them.

In terms of mobility, your partner is not going to be able to move much. You’ll be able to move them onto one of their sides so you can access their genitals, or you could turn them over completely and get them into a bridge position.

This can be a great position for sex as you’ll be able to dicate the pace and power with each thrust. My husband says there’s something that’s just so sexy about having me hogtied on the bed awaiting his cock.

#5. Balltie

With the balltie bondage position, your goal is essentially to put your partner in the shape of a ball. You are going to use a rope to tie their back and chest to the area of their legs that is just above the knees. Once you’ve done that, you’re going to take their wrists and tie them to their ankles.

When we were using this position, I found that the rope slipped slightly when it was around my chest, but it wasn’t anything major. When I was laid onto my side, it served as a great substitute for doggy-style as I was on full display for Don.

If you really want to get kinky with this bondage position, you can tie your partner’s wrists and ankles to a rope hanging from the ceiling to keep their legs upward. What I love about the balltie is the variety that you can get out of it. There are so many positions to experience and as I mentioned above, it’s great if you and your partner are into doggy style.

#6. Legs Up, Wrist to Knees

Legs Up, Wrists to Knees

I love the name of this bondage position because there isn’t much explaining that has to be done. As you guessed it, you are going to want to tie the wrists of your partner to their knees, and then use a rope hanging from the ceiling to tie up their ankles.

This is another fantastic bondage position because there are tons of things your partner can do to you. You can be tied in such a way that lifts your butt and back slightly off the ground.

Not only can you have vaginal sex, you can also try out anal in this bondage position. Another reason why I like this bondage position is that it allows for face-to-face intercourse.

With some bondage positions, you don’t have the opportunity to see them and at times you might wander if they are uncomfortable.

With this type of bondage position, you can clearly see the pleasure on their face, or, if there are any issues, spot them instantly so you can make any changes.

I also have to add that it is a fantastic position for those with a foot fetish or those who love doggy style.

BDSM Safety

After teaching you about some of the most used bondage positions out there, I also feel like I am responsible for teaching you safety when you are going about BDSM play. With BDSM play it is normal for someone to be in slight pain or discomfort, however, it should never surpass their level of comfort.

With any type of role play, you both want to be in the moment and acting in a realistic manner, however you both have to be able to distinguish the difference between someone acting and someone who isn’t.

Having a safe word is a must for BDSM play as it will allow both of you to quickly exit out of your scenario, talk about what is happening, and then make the appropriate changes.

If you are working with a ball gag, you are going to have to get creative as your partner won’t be able to yell out a word. If they are immobilized it might also be difficult for them to make any movements.

The best way around this is to use a water filled ball and put it into their hands. If they drop the ball, it means that you should immediately release the restraints and take the ball gag out of their mouth.

The sound of it hitting the floor should be loud enough for you to hear, however you can get an LED ball that lights up so you can see a light in the corner of your eye as well. The ball should be such that it is comfortable for your partner to hold.

Many BDSM couples swear by this method and it is a great way to quickly show you are experiencing discomfort. If a ball isn’t for you, you can have your partner snap their fingers, or use any other signal that is available to them.

Closing Thoughts

Like with any type of sex, if you want to get the most out of your bondage positions, you are going to have to be well researched in what you are doing, and you both have to be comfortable and consenting to what is going to happen. I would never put my husband into a situation he is uncomfortable with and I hope you would do the same with your partner.

Bondage is a great way to add some spice into the bedroom and if you two are into dom/sub relations, it’s a must. Plan out what positions you are going to want to use and then get right into it.

When bondage is done correctly, you can achieve some of the most powerful orgasms through edging and teasing your partner for an extended period of time. I hope you and your partner have a lot of fun and experience sex in a new way.
